Buildings and park

Beautiful main building
Bregentved's main building can be found in the centre of the park. This striking structure consists of 3 wings of two floors with distinctive copper spires. The south and east wings were designed by Axel Berg and built in the neo-rococo style in 1890. The north wing is from around 1650 and was built along with the Baroque chapel in 1735. Today, the Moltke family lives in the main building of the estate, where there is no public access.

One of Denmark's most unique gardens
The adjacent garden was built in Baroque style in the 1750s. The many owners have each left their mark on the garden, meaning that it has elements of Baroque, Rococo and Romantic style. It is considered to be one of the most harmonious gardens in Denmark, still to this day.

Take a tour in the park
A stroll in the park offers views of lakes, beautiful fountains and several sculptures by Johannes Wiedewelt. You can also see a large obelisk made of limestone which was erected in 1770 in memory of AG Moltke's close relationship with Frederick V.

In recent years, the park has undergone a remarkable transformation that was covered by the DR TV programme: Historic Gardens. You can take a virtual tour of the park here.

The park is open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9 o'clock to sunset, but no later than 6 o'clock. Visitors are only permitted to walk on the trails. Admission is free.
